Anglian Water Pipeline Network Upgrade

Every day, we treat nearly a billion litres of clean water and send it through enough pipes to reach Sydney and back again. When pipes get older, they’re more likely to burst or leak – so it’s important we replace and maintain them to keep your supply safe and reliable. We’re coming to Old Leake to replace our pipes. We’ll start work in December 2025 and expect to finish by July 2027 if everything goes smoothly. What’s happening in your area? We’re investing £2.6 million to upgrade 4.5kilometres of pipes to make sure your supply is safe and reliable for years to come. You can see where we’ll be working on the map on the other side of this letter. We’ll use a technique called directional drilling to install over 85% of the new pipeline. This will allow us to insert pipes underneath the ground without having to dig up large sections. It causes less disruption, while reducing our carbon footprint. How will the work affect you? There’s likely to be some disruption for residents during this work, and we want to thank the community in advance for your patience. While we do this work, your water and sewerage services won’t be affected, and you can use them as normal. But if we do need to switch off your water for a short time to connect to the existing network, we’ll let you know in advance. While we aim to reduce disruption to pedestrians and traffic as much as we can, our top priority will always be the safety of our staff and the public. This means that we will need road closures in place for the duration of our work, you can see the official diversion routes on our website. The dates of the closures overlap to allow our team to move onto the next section of the work without needing to pause. They will not physically be in place at the same time.
Church Road traffic lights will be over school times at the junction with Old Main Road and will need to be manually controlled at school times, and prioritised. 02-03 May the road will be reopened over that night at the level crossing at Station Road, Sibsey.
